Our Political Ideology
Centrist, Democratic, Anti-Fascist, and Civic-Nationalist Principles (বাংলাদেশপন্থা)
The party is built on centrist, democratic, anti-fascist, and civic-nationalist principles focused directly on citizen sovereignty (বাংলাদেশপন্থা). The Sylhet District committee applies these national tenets to local socioeconomic realities:
“National Citizen Party (NCP) Sylhet District stands firmly against fascism, committed to supporting democratic values, justice, equality, and the collective interests of society.”
Core Ideological Pillars
Anti-Fascism & Anti-Discrimination
Rejecting political dynasticism, regional corruption syndicates, and systemic oppression to guarantee equal dignity for every citizen.
- Ending Dynastic Politics: Transitioning from hereditary family rule to merit-based leadership at every level of governance.
- Eradicating Corruption Syndicates: Stopping extortion, tender manipulation, and corrupt administrative cartels across Sylhet.
Civic Sovereignty & Pluralism
Placing institutional decision-making directly in the hands of the public—protecting the rights of students, workers, religious and ethnic communities, and tea garden laborers.
- Tea Garden Workers Rights: Ensuring fair wages, land rights, healthcare, and educational access for marginalized tea garden laborers.
- Harmonious Pluralism: Preserving communal harmony, protecting ethnic minorities, and guaranteeing freedom of faith.
Transnational Solidarity
Recognizing the vital role of the global Sylheti diaspora in Britain, Europe, and the Middle East not just as financial contributors, but as key stakeholders in state-building and local governance.
- Diaspora Voting & Governance: Campaigning for direct voting access and direct legislative participation for overseas Bangladeshis.
- Protecting Diaspora Properties: Eliminating harassment, fraudulent land grabs, and bureaucratic delays for overseas Sylhetis.
Ecological & Resource Protection
Championing scientific management of the Surma and Kushiyara river basins, preserving local ecosystems (such as Jaflong and haor wetlands), and protecting local resources from illegal extraction.
- Surma-Kushiyara Basin Management: Implementing river dredging, embankment protection, and scientific flood mitigation strategies.
- Preserving Haors & Eco-sites: Stopping illegal sand and stone extraction cartels while safeguarding haor biodiversity and mineral resources.
